Van Gerwen reflects after Aspinall draw to end first Premier League block: “Nathan certainly deserved that”

Michael van Gerwen is in fourth place after the first block of Premier League action. He now sits a point behind leader, Jonny Clayton.

Van Gerwen ended on a 6-6 draw against Nathan Aspinall on Friday evening.

"Nathan certainly deserved that draw. He was playing at a very high level throughout, much better than what he has showed in recent months.

“On the other hand, I still had the chance to win at the end. If you have six darts from 170, it must always be taken out, I can only blame myself, " said Van Gerwen to RTL 7.

Indifferent start

What feeling does the Van Gerwen have overall about these first five days of Premier League action? "It was a bit changeable. In some games it went very well, but especially against James Wade I performed below par. Now I take a few days off and from Tuesday I start my preparation for the continuation of the Premier League."
