With the Olympic Games currently ongoing in other sports, the question remains about whether or not darts should be an Olympic sport.
Matthew Edgar in his most recent video on Edgar TV explored this idea and wasn't in favour of this happening.
"Darts is a sport. Obviously because it's shown on Sky Sports, it's enough for me if it's on Sky Sports, it's a sport," said Edgar.
"Every one of the PDC Tour Card holders is actually contracted to the PDC and within that contract does not allow us to appear on live streams, TV outside of the PDC. Basically no PDC Tour Card holder would be allowed to take part in the Olympics without prior permission from the PDC. That rules out 128 Tour Card holders."
"Darts in the Olympics causes one big problem. The Olympics are either the catalyst to go and do full professional careers, a lot of these sports it's the pinnacle. The highest thing you can achieve, in our field it's still going to be the PDC World Championship."
No clear advantage
"Could it be? Yes, it fits the criteria of an Olympic sport. Everything is there to suggest it could be in place 100%. Should it be? I personally don't see a benefit to it. I think it would be great for the amateur game but I don't think darts translates to the Olympics."
