Dimitri van den Bergh was agonisingly close to a nine-dart finish in the first round of the
Bahrain Darts Masters on Thursday. 'The Dreammaker' missed the last dart for a perfect leg.
The Belgian started the eighth leg with two 180s and thus had 141 remaining. Van den Bergh then hit the triple 20 and triple 15, but threw his ninth dart just under the double 18 for a nine-dart finish.
Van den Bergh incidentally won his match against Alain Abiabi 6-5, qualifying him for the quarter-finals of the World Series tournament in Bahrain.
