James Wade saw off Michael van Gerwen on Night Four of the 2021 Premier League to collect his first win of the season but he wasn't satisfied despite the comfortable win.
This was due to Van Gerwen not being at his best with Wade admitting he was expecting better and that he played a D+ version of the Green Machine.
"Michael (van Gerwen) didn't play how he can. Maybe it's a little bit of luckiness on my behalf. For the last few days, I haven't played well. I played ok against Gary (Anderson) and the next two games were pretty bad," said Wade to Sky Sports.
"I haven't beat Michael, I've beaten a player, it wasn't Michael. I'm not going to get excited. I played probably a D+ Michael."
"It was good enough to win but it wasn't what I expected. I'm playing arguably the best player in the world and I thought it would be more competitive."
