The first round of the
European Darts Grand Prix was completed in Sindelfingen on Friday.
Marcel Walpen went down 6-3 against Keegan Brown in his opening match. This made the Swiss the 501st player to play a match on the
European Tour.
Incidentally, Walpen is only the third Swiss to play a match on the European Tour. Stefan Bellmont (ten matches) and Thomas Junghans (two matches) preceded him.
He will also make his World Cup of Darts debut next month with Chris Murphy on commentary confirming prior murmurs that he will partner Bellmont in Frankfurt for Switzerland.
Walpen's European Tour debut came after he has dominated the Swiss Darts Corporation's tour in the past year until Bellmont's recent emergence to play the tournaments.
