Earlier this year,
Dirk van Duijvenbode was interviewed by VTM 2 on the Premier League Darts night in Rotterdam. The 32-year-old Dutchman is always up for a joke, which resulted in hilarious scenes.
VTM commentator Rudy Lanssens interviewed Van Duijvenbode and after the last question, Van Duijvenbode patted him on the head several times with the words, "And next time don't keep me waiting as long, huh.
Over at the "Double Top" podcast, Lanssens looked back on that hilarious interview. He also returned to his first meeting with "Aubergenius. "The very first time I ever attended a tournament for VTM 2 was at the World Cup of Darts in Jena. I was sitting there in the bar having a drink with Kim Huybrechts when suddenly Dirk van Duijvenbode came to say hello to us.
"I then treated him to a beer and since then he always comes particularly friendly to me when I'm at a tournament. That interview during the Premier League Darts was funny, I think Dirk had had a few bacos as well," Lanssens said.

"He does think I'm an annoying guy sometimes because he thinks I ask annoying questions, but it's all very amicable and teasing. Dirk is just a nice guy."
Squeaky song
At that particular World Cup of Darts, there was another remarkable incident. "Dirk played that tournament together with Michael van Gerwen. After their match I went to interview them and they both got a microphone. Dirk stood there a little awkwardly and asked if he could sing a song. I liked the idea, but it was such an obscene song that we wisely cut it out of the broadcast. What song it was exactly? I remember it well, but I'm not going to make it public anyway," Lanssens laughed.
