West boosts European Championship hopes, Noppert breezes through to set up tie with Lewis

The action has concluded in the opening session at the International Darts Open with Steve West boosting his European Championship qualification hopes.

West saw off Toni Alcinas in an excellent 6-3 win to book his spot and move through to a meeting with Jamie Hughes in the next round.

In terms of his performance, he averaged 94.5 and hit four 180's in seeing off the Spaniard and will look to go further into confirming his spot against 'Yozza' tomorrow.

Danny Noppert is also through and sets up a tie with Adrian Lewis tomorrow after defeating Host Nation Qualifier, Sebastian Pohl in a routine 6-1 victory.

It was a double Dutch win as Ron Meulenkamp saw off Michael Rosenauer, another Host Nation Qualifier in a 6-2 win to also move through.
