White hopes to put disappointing World Matchplay behind him ahead of PDC Autumn Series: "I wasn't ready. I tried what I did, got up there and it didn't work for me"

Ian White lost out in a disappointing sudden death comeback against Joe Cullen during the World Matchplay and it is a match he hopes to put behind him with the PDC Autumn Series on the horizon.

Speaking at the Target Sports Stars Fishing Championship, White said that by his own admission he wasn't ready for the return for darts after lockdown but now he is back putting in the hours with Michael Smith ahead of the return.

"I wasn't ready. If you think about lockdown, we were all lazy, we all didn't do a lot. At the end of the day, I tried what I did; got up there it didn't work for me. So I've just got to brush it under the carpet now and hopefully get ready for this next series," said White to the PDC.

"We've been putting the practice in me and Michael (Smith) so we're doing a lot better. Before we went into lockdown in March, I'd won a ProTour. I was playing well, Michael was playing well. So we just wanted to get back together and back practising again."
