White reveals surgery on injury after World Matchplay: "There's not a lot I can do, I've just got to get on with it"

Ian White returned to winning ways at the World Matchplay with a thrilling victory over Daryl Gurney 10-7 to kick off the third night of action in Blackpool.

White came in clutch in the end and revealed the game was probably even better knowing what was on the line ranking wise.

"I was making it hard for myself again. If a few doubles earlier on would have gone in, it would make it a bit easier. But I knew it was going to be a hard game between me and Daryl. He's got a lot to lose on his rankings and we're close to each other and I think that's what made it a good game," said White post match.

Pending surgery

He also revealed he has a pending operation which has hampered his form and also discussed the European Tour factor with most of his money taken off due to it not being played in its traditional slot.

"I've got to have an operation on the 4th August so that's going to put me out a bit. There's not a lot I can do, I've just got to get on with it and with this Covid, it's knocked me out of the top 16. There's nothing I can do about it, it's just the way the tournaments have gone.

"I done well in the European Tour two years ago and all of a sudden it's been taken off as we can't travel so I've been struggling."
