Peter Wright claimed victory in the European Championship this weekend which he revealed saw him drive over to Germany instead of fly so the question was posed by RTL7 following his final win why he isn't now going to Austria.
Wright revealed that with the Winter Series being the following week, he can't travel back to the UK in time if he is not flying so has decided against it with the multiple Players Championships being one of the main reasons.
"Of course, I'd love for me and Gary to go and defend our title. But the situation at the moment, Germany's being shut down from Monday and UK shut down from Thursday. It's going to be really difficult to fly anywhere and trying to get back.
"I'm still scared of getting on a plane, that's why we drove here so there's only three of us in the car. I can't get back, get ready tested on Monday, there's no way in the world I'd be ready for Tuesday to play Players Championship that I need to be winning."
