With two ranking tournaments to go, the
World Grand Prix field of participants is almost complete. At the next two Euro Tour tournaments, the last players will qualify for the uniquely entertaining, double-in double-out tournament in Leicester.
The BoyleSports World Grand Prix will take place from Oct. 2 to 8 at the Morningside Area in Leicester. The field of participants consists of the top 16 in the world rankings and the top 16 in the cleaned Pro Tour order of Merit.
The entire top 16 of the world is already certain to participate in the World Grand Prix. At the Pro Tour Order of Merit some important shifts may still take place in the coming weeks. After past Pro Tour and qualifying tournaments,
Callan Rydz and
Ricardo Pietreczko entered the top 16 of the Pro Tour Order of Merit at the expense of Steve Beaton and Kim Huybrechts.
The final two tournaments before the World Grand Prix are the German Darts Open in Jena (Sept. 8-10) and the Hungarian Darts Trophy in Budapest (Sept. 22-24). Both Beaton and Huybrechts failed to qualify for either of these tournaments, meaning they are definitely out of the qualifying race. Rydz, who is in fifteenth place after several successful tournaments, also failed to qualify for one of these Euro Tours, but is still ahead of the players behind him.
Gian van Veen and Luke Woudhouse are just outside the top 16 of the Pro Tour ranking, but managed to qualify for both Euro Tour tournaments, just like Pietreczko. These 3 players are still in the qualification race and will see their chance to make their debut at the World Grand Prix.
