In new statistics released by Darts statistician Christopher Kempf aka as Ochepedia, it has been revealed that the World Grand Prix has an unwanted record and only The Masters and Premier League have been successfully defended.
These have been done so by Michael van Gerwen who alongside his World Championship; won his other two majors of the year in these two events.
The Grand Slam which has been won in the past two years; in the form of Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen and so it has been two years since it was last defended.
One title though in particular is
World Grand Prix and that hasn't been defended for 10 years. Michael van Gerwen has won four titles since 2012 but in the intervening years it has always been a new winner.
Case and point was him winning in 2016; but then losing the following year to Daryl Gurney and with his form questioned on occasion this year, can he break the unwanted record?
