Wright admits Grand Slam defeat took it's toll: "I could've walked away from the sport quite easily"

Peter Wright is through his opener at the Players Championship Finals with a flawless display on his doubles but he made it hard for himself against Ryan Meikle.

But after losing out to Devon Petersen last week and dropping out of the Grand Slam of Darts, Wright admitted that he was potentially ready to walk away and that he is sick of playing behind closed doors.

"I just made it hard for myself. To be honest the other day when I lost to Devon, I could've walked away from the sport quite easily and not played again in my life," said Wright post match.

"I'm fed up with all this behind (closed doors) rubbish so I'm happy now we've got the go ahead to have some fans then you'll see some proper darts."

"I don't know how everyone else feels but I could swear quite a lot right now how I feel about it. I've been in my room for near enough since the beginning of lockdown in Coventry."
