Wright and Anderson out at opening hurdle at Players Championship 24 as Chisnall and Schindler impress

The first round is well underway at Players Championship 24 with Peter Wright and Gary Anderson out at the very first hurdle in Barnsley today.

Wright lost out 6-5 to Jim McEwan, while after gaining revenge on Daryl Gurney earlier in the week for his World Matchplay defeat, it was a 6-5 triumph for 'Superchin' this time.

Luke Humphries, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross though are among those through with Martin Schindler and Dave Chisnall producing 109 and 108 averages respectively in their openers.

An amount of £100,000 in prize money will be distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for £12,000.
