Peter Wright eased past Mike de Decker to do his part of the equation before Fallon Sherrock's heroics as he moved into the Last 16 of the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts.
Wright spoke afterwards and was glad to be heading into the longer format next up due to being able to change his darts.
"That was a good game, the averages didn't tell what the game was," said Wright post match.
"I'll have to decide what darts to use whoever I'm playing, I ain't got a clue but I'm in the tournament properly now. Over the long distance, I can change the darts three times in a game so it doesn't really matter."
Targeting Grand Slam title
He is now targeting the Grand Slam title despite by his own admission not playing to his best at the moment but looks at the previous form line of his titles with good reading.
"I've set my targets on certain tournaments this year and I've won them ones that I wanted to win and this is the other one I want to win. I am not playing good enough darts to win it at the moment but you haven't got to play good enough darts yet."
"Two years on the trot, I lost in the UK Open final to MVG and I went and won it eventually. I've lost in the final twice here, backside spanked by Gezzy (Price) and he was just on fire but I know how to win it."
Sherrock
A big advocate of Fallon Sherrock, Wright also backs her to find her way onto the tour next year.
"She just showed to the world what she can do. I think she's got the game definitely."
