Wright claims first PDC ranking title of 2019 defeating Pipe at Players Championship 19

Peter Wright has won back-to-back titles but his first PDC ranking title of 2019 with victory over Justin Pipe in the final of Players Championship 19 in Barnsley.

Wright has been in brilliant form as of late winning the unranked World Cup of Darts and German Darts Masters; that has continued today. Highlights will include his 113 average against Dimitri van den Bergh and his win against Vincent van der Voort which could be a pre cursor to their first round meeting at the World Matchplay.

He was made to work for it though against 'The Force' who came back from the brink at 7-3 down to push Wright all the way; but ultimately it was too much of a mountain to climb and he fell in the end 8-5 to 'Snakebite'.

It is a welcome return though to a final though for the Taunton ace who has been showing glimmers that he is returning to form and enjoying his darts again. This was shown again in Barnsley today and he will be now seen to be a danger again in these tournaments despite not claiming the £10,000 top prize today.

Quarter-Finals
Gary Anderson 6 | 3 Gabriel Clemens
Peter Wright 6 | 1 Vincent van der Voort

Ron Meulenkamp 6 | 5 Harry Ward

Semi-Finals

Justin Pipe 7 | 4 Ron Meulenkamp

Final
Peter Wright 8 | 5 Justin Pipe
