Wright confident of claiming maiden PDC World Championship: “This is my time”

The first PDC World Champion of the new decade will be crowned later and it will see Peter Wright face Michael van Gerwen.
Wright has previously faced Van Gerwen at this point in 2014 but this time he believes he has to the tools to be the winner.
’Snakebite’ said as well that his previous poor record against Van Gerwen in finals doesn’t matter and that ultimately he thinks it’s his time.
"I'm not going to throw it away this time. I've matured over all these years and I am ready now.
"My previous record in finals doesn't matter - this is my time."
"Michael hasn't impressed me in this tournament and I think I've played better than him," added Wright.
"I have kept my focus and got better with every game and I believe I can do anything I want.
"I knew I was going to make the final and had a set of trousers laid out for every round.”

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
