14-year-old Luke Littler qualifies for Lakeside after WDF Irish Open win

Luke Littler has won the WDF Irish Open on Saturday. The 14-year-old highly touted prospect was too strong for Barry Copeland in the final.

Earlier he had beaten the likes of David Concannon and Ben Hazel. Anastasia Dobromyslova won the ladies tournament at the expense of Deta Hedman.

As the Irish Open is categorised by the WDF as a gold event, Littler's final victory qualifies him for the WDF World Championships, which will be played at Lakeside in January 2022.

At 14, Littler is not the youngest player ever to take part in a World Championship. Leighton Bennett was a little younger (14 years and 4 days) when he made his appearance at the BDO World Championship in 2020.
