MASTERY FROM MERKX! A hat-trick of big finishes were the key as Alexander Merkx claimed the 2024 Men's Romanian Open title. 'The Great' produced checkouts of 147, 164 and a match-winning 111 to beat Patrik Kovacs 5-3 in the final.
The two singles tournaments at the WDF tournament in Romania produced Dutch winners. Jimmy van Schie and Alexander Merkx took the overall victory.
The final of the Romanian Classic had two Dutch finalists. Van Schie and Merkx both managed to reach the final and after an exciting match the win went 5-4 to Van Schie, who captured his first WDF title.
However, Merkx was able to redeem himself by also reaching the final of the Romanian Open. In the final match of that tournament the Dutchman was 5-3 too strong for Patrik Kovacs. For Merkx it is his third WDF ranking title.
