Following his title at the WDF Swiss Open, Liam Maendl-Lawrence also won the WDF Helvetia Open on Sunday.
The German successively defeated Andreas Kumpan (4-2), Jankidar Malla (4-0), Nico Schunke (4-0), Barry Copeland (4-2), Hannes Schnier (4-2), Alexander Merkx (4-2) and Marcel Walpen (5-3) to claim the title in Switzerland.
The 19-year-old Maendl-Lawrance is experiencing his breakthrough this season. He has already won three WDF tournaments and is also starting to get his foot in the door at the PDC. He already qualified for four Euro Tour tournaments in 2023, and earlier this year reached the second round in his first two Euro Tour appearances. Danny Noppert was just too strong for the young German each time.
A women's tournament was also played. This was won by Sophie McKinlay, who had beaten Rhian O'Sullivan in the semi-finals. She then settled with Monique Leßmeister (5-3) in the final.
