We have already reached the penultimate day of the WDF World Championship at Lakeside. Saturday sees semifinals from the boys', ladies' and men's tournament in Frimley Green.
First up on Saturday afternoon are the young talents, Bradley van der Velden and Mats Theobald, who meet in the semifinals. In the evening András Borbély and Adam Dee will face each other in the second semifinal.
For the ladies, Aileen de Graaf is still in the tournament. After victories over Nicole Regnaud (2-1) and Lorraine Winstanley (2-0) she will take on four-time world champion Lisa Ashton after the former four-time world champion came from a set down to defeat last year's runner-up Kirsty Hutchinson in the quarters on Friday night.
The women's other semifinal will be between top favourite Beau Greaves and Rhian O'Sullivan. The latter is heavily the underdog, but has shown good form this week with two averages above 80.
In the men's tournament, Andy Baetens will battle Dennis Nilsson on Saturday afternoon. The latter was responsible for the elimination of Alexander Merkx and Wesley Plaisier in the two previous rounds. Against top favourite Baetens, however, Nilsson will have to throw another good match to have a chance of pulling off a shock.
At least one Dutchman will make the final at Lakeside, as the second semifinal in the men's event is between compatriots Chris Landman and Jelle Klaasen. Both men already survived matchdarts during this tournament. Landman escaped an exit in the quarterfinals against defending champion Neil Duff, who missed two matchdarts. Klaasen saw Dennie Olde Kalter miss two matchdarts in the eighth finals. Then "The Cobra" prevailed quite comfortably 4-1 against Danny Lauby Jr. to join the last four.
This year, the event is mostly available to watch hrough the YouTube channels of the WDF, Winmau and Tungsten Tales. As well as Ayozat TV on Sky and their website.
The total prize pool for the WDF Lakeside World Championship includes £257,000 in prize money. That is a lot less than in 2022, when £300,000 was paid out.
The main prize for the winner of the men's and women's tournament did remain the same. The winner in the men's will take home 50,000 pounds in prize money. The winner in the women's will receive a check for 25,000 pounds.
