Martin Adams is through to the Quarter-Finals of the
World Seniors Darts Championship where the winner of Keith Deller or Larry Butler will await.
This after ending the run of qualifier, Richie Howson in five sets and he spoke afterwards about making a little adjustment which paid dividends.
"It was a shaky start but it's one of those things. It's all about what you see and sometimes the surround colours as well and I looked at it and I thought I'm throwing well pitching above so I stood back just a little bit and I started hitting it," said Adams post match.
Having been a BDO stalwart, Adams has only played in the venue for exhibitions and summed up his reaction to playing in Purfleet.
"It was special, they've got a great crowd down there and you've got lots of people that have been following darts for years and they love to come and see us old-timers."
"I've watched Seniors Snookers and how well supported that is and I couldn't see any reason why this wouldn't be the same and it's been absolutely brilliantly supported."
A dream final for many would be 'Wolfie' v 'The Power' Phil Taylor and Adams hopes it happens and he can take home the trophy.
"It'd be absolutely fantastic. Bit of both for that, I know Phil would love to be in the final and I'm sure he'd love to play me. We've played games over the years, some hard ones and some easy ones and it'd be great to do it all again."
Adams also gave his take on the current state of darts including amateur darts where he has of course plied his trade for a long time.
"The PDC is still evolving, the WDF they've got to start evolving now. They look like they're stuck in a rot, they've got to start thinking outside the box."
"The WDF is a little bit behind and it's got to catch up."
