One of the most iconic figures in darting history, the 1988 World Darts Champion,
Bob Anderson is set for one rodeo as 'the Limestone Cowboy' takes part in the final competition of his legendary career at the
World Seniors Darts Masters.
"It was a difficult decision, I have to be honest," admits the 75-year-old in an interview with Live Darts YouTube channel. "Not one that I really wanted to make and one that I've probably been putting off for about a year. But I realised I'm no longer as competitive as I want to be or used to be."
"It's a bitter pill to swallow but I'm a realist," Anderson continues. Peaking in 1988 as he beat John Lowe 6-4 at Lakeside to claim the World Darts Championship, Anderson was one of the founding members of the PDC in 1993 and stayed on the professional tour until 2008.
"I'm giving 25 years to some of my opponents and I've not been playing top, competitive darts since I turned 60. It really has become very difficult to compete at the level I want to compete. So it was the right time to stop."
