"People want to see if I'm gonna win the three in a row, I gotta do it" - Gates dreaming of historic hattrick

Leonard Gates completed his first assignment at the World Seniors Matchplay. 'The Soulger' defeated Colin McGarry 9-7 in a tight last sixteen encounter.

Gates admitted afterwards, he never really felt comfortable up on the stage. "I watched his body language, I watched him warming up and I thought; Yeah he's he's kind of ready for me," said the 52-year-old American. "It was very important that I won the bull."

Earlier this year, Gates already won the World Seniors Masters and the Champion of Champions. This weekend, he goes for a third consecutive major title on the World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT). "People want to see if I'm gonna win the three in a row, I gotta do it," he says, understandably full of confidence.

Another thing to mention, is the fact that Gates actually has new darts for this event. "I actually played with the prototypes and it's gonna take more time to get used to it and to perfect the dart but the more I play the more comfortable I'm getting."
