"I was disappointed not to win one last year" - Painter keeps hopes alive at World Seniors Darts Matchplay with dominant win over Hedman

Kevin Painter got off to a good start at the World Seniors Darts Matchplay. 'The Artist' was an 8-1 winner over Deta Hedman in the last sixteen.

"I started well and that's what you need, it gives you something to build on," Painter opened. "It's difficult when you're a 56-year-old to keep concentrating. In the old days, when I was younger and playing at the top of the game it was to easier to carry on pushing."

Since the formation of the World Seniors Darts Tour, Painter has been one the most consistently good players without managing to take a tournament. "I was disappointed not to win one last year. Everyone who plays in these events wants to win one."

In the quarterfinals, Painter will take on Jim McEwen. "I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I can step it up a touch and play well."
