Phil Taylor will return to action later this evening, as he gets his World Seniors Darts Matchplay campaign underway against old rival, John Part in York.
"I am looking forward to it yeah. It's something to get up for and practice for," 'The Power' tells Online Darts ahead of his latest attempt at adding success on the World Seniors Darts Tour to his vast trophy haul. "When you retire it does become a little bit boring. So you know, you've got a practice board there, get on it and do your job."
Taylor has been somewhat underwhelmed by his performances on the WSDT since joining, with the widely-regarded greatest player of all-time still yet to win a tournament.
"I'm dying to win honestly. Just to give me the bragging rights back. At the minute nobody fears me and it's horrible," he laughs. "I'd love to get a bit of form back, be the player I used to be but if it happens, it happens. If it doesn't I've tried my best."
Taylor has shown sparks of what used to be, but he believes a key factor in the lack of consistency is the fact he just doesn't play competitively as often anymore.
"I was tournaments week in and week out you know. Now I’ve probably done three or four tournaments in five years," Taylor explains. "It's likw footballers. You've got to get out on that pitch and play in games. Keeping match fit, that's the only difference with them and me."
