A late surge saw Phil 'the Power' Taylor edge past his old rival John Part 9-7 and reach the quarterfinals of the World Seniors Darts Matchplay.
Despite the victory, Taylor was not at all satisfied. "Rubbish. Absolute rubbish," was Taylor's scathing assessment of his own performance. "Every time he hit a double I'm thinking 'That's me done. One leg closer to never throwing a dart again.'"
"Every time i won a leg I was thinking 'Oh no, I've got to carry on.' That was in my mind honestly, " the Power continued. "My eyesight's not right. I've had new lenses in the up there and I can't see properly. It's strange I'm telling you."
In the quarterfinals, Taylor will take on Paul Hogan. "Crocodile Dundee! I've got to get a bigger knife than him, that's what I've got to do. He's a good player and I can't fault the lad but tomorrow is a different kettle of fish."
