Nathan Aspinall knocked out world number one Michael van Gerwen on Sunday afternoon during the fourth Players Championship event in Wigan.

'The Asp' only dropped one leg in a convincing 6-1 victory over the Dutchman. Van Gerwen had an higher average (103) then Aspinall (102), but the Stockport ace produced some deadly finishes as hit 68, 95, 110 and 70 checkouts.
Aspinall became the surprising package at the PDC World Darts Championship as he reached the semi-finals as an unseeded player. He was beaten by Michael Smith, who lost to Van Gerwen in the World Championship final.
