Whitlock proved to be the key with his first match win. He defeated Wales' captain Gerwyn Price 4-2 with a 101 average and five 180's and the Wizard looked brilliant in doing so. He will be confident of replicating that in the semi-finals of the
World Cup of Darts.
Clayton smashed Anderson in the second game 4-0 in a whitewash victory to force the pairs decider. Despite losing to Clayton though, it was Anderson that helped Australia on their way to overall victory. They defeated Wales 4-1 to win through including a 121 checkout on the bull to put them on the verge at 3-1.
