Barry Hearn has stated in an interview that he won't be axing the walk on girls anytime soon despite Van Gerwen saying he believes they will be gone within two years.
In an interview with AD he spoke about it as well as his plans as PDC chairman as he doesn't feel 'old yet' and has 'ambitious plans' for the organisation.
'Not as long as I am the boss. Call me old-fashioned, but I think the walk on-girls is great and provides entertainment. In my opinion, they belong to darts, "says Hearn.
Michael van Gerwen stated earlier in an interview with this newspaper that there are plans within the organisation to scrap the women who walk on with the dart players before matches
It does not contradict that Hearn feels also different about the walk-on-girls within the PDC. "But personally I do not see any harm in it. I do not think it is sexist in any way. The women just do their job and provide fun. That's how I look at it, so they stay. "
At the age of 69, Hearn does not think about stopping as chairman of the PDC for the time being 'I am getting older, but I do not feel old yet. I am full of energy and passion and have a lot of ambitious plans. "
