Edgar edges out Cullen, Smith en Chisnall through to last 16 in Göttingen

Matthew Edgar defused a comeback from Joe Cullen to reach the final day of the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen. 'Prime Time' edged out 'The Rockstar' after a leg-decider on Saturday afternoon.
The Northamptonshire ace broke Cullen's throw in leg eight with a 14-dart leg. However Cullen bounced back with a 13-darter and a stunning 104 checkout to level the match in the tenth leg. However Edgar had the advantage to start the decider and claimed the win within five turns.
Michael Smith and Dave Chisnall did not make mistakes and will return on stage during the final day of the European Tour on Sunday. Smith beat Marko Kantele easily with 6-1, while Chisnall survived two match-darts against Ryan Joyce.

- As prize money increases each year and there are now more tournaments then logically breaking the £2 million barrier is going to happen, only thing preventing it is the now deeper strength in depth of the darting field. If you took Taylor’s best two consecutive years and substituted the prize money from now onto the tournaments he won he would have passed the £2 million.Mysstree26-11-2024
