GRANDPRIX RD1 NORTH2

Richard North caused the second upset of the day at the European Darts Trophy after beating Simon Whitlock in the second round.

Whitlock was not able to finish his own ninth leg within fifteen darts and that cost him the game as North broke his throw with an 89 finish. 'Lionheart' took a 5-4 lead and held his own throw to seal the win.
Stephen Bunting booked a convincing 6-2 victory over Mickey Mansell as the former Lakeside champion averaged 103 and fired in five maximum scores to beat the Irishman. Daryl Gurney edged out youngster Luke Humphries 6-3.
