Gary Anderson steamrolled to another World Series title after his previous triumph in Dubai this year by defeating Raymond van Barneveld and denying him his first World Series title. The Flying Scotsman dispatched RVB in the final 11-7 in a brilliant performance and it brings an end to the Oceanic leg of the World Series where we have had 3 different winners (Kyle Anderson, Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson).
Barney started very well holding his throw with a 180 and then a 61 checkout but Anderson responded well with a 50 checkout and an 11 dart leg. Barney held his throw again hitting D4 for a 2-1 lead. Anderson responded hitting D4 for parity and a 117 average.
Anderson grabbed the first break last dart in hand hitting D5 to go 3-2 up at the interval. Missed darts from both which allowed Barney to win the leg and break on D16.
Ando broke back hitting a 136 finish to make it 4-3. Barney broke straight back hitting D10 to make it 4 consecutive breaks of throw. RVB once again missed doubles and there was another break of throw with Ando hitting D4 for 5-4. RVB missed more darts and this allowed Anderson to go 6-4 up.
Anderson came back from the interval and took out 94 to lead 7-5 but Barney came steaming back in the following leg taking out 121 to get back to 7-6. This was underpinned though as Anderson extended his advantage to 8-6.
The dutch maestro stayed in touch with a D3 checkout to go 8-7 down with the averages almost neck and neck.
Anderson made it only two legs away with tops to make it 9-7. He added further misery by taking out 72 to go one away from the title and then secured it winning 11-7.
