Michael van Gerwen was not at his best again for the second match running in the dutch spectacle with
Raymond van Barneveld but still got through it to set up a clash with Rob Cross in the semi-finals.
'Mighty Mike' went 3-1 up only to be pegged back to 4-4 and Barney had the darts in the final set but became tense and couldn't convert the opportunity to knock out MVG and so for the second year running, Van Gerwen prevails in the battle of the dutch dynamos.
MVG averaged 102 to Barney's 98 but for Van Gerwen he will know once again he has dodged a bullet while Barney will be wondering what might of been as he spurned a major chance to knock out the title favourite in the classic at the Alexandra Palace.
