The third round at Players Championship 16 is complete with Robert Thornton in particular putting in a sublime performance to edge out Michael van Gerwen.
Thornton averaged 101 in a shock win over 'Mighty Mike' who has a barren weekend on his return to the ProTour.
Peter Wright though ended up heading out of proceedings losing 6-5 despite averaging around 102 in defeat.
It was Scott Taylor who perhaps had the performance of the round averaging around 108 in smashing Ross Smith in a 6-1 victory.
Jose de Sousa similarly produced the goods averaging 105 in edging out Geert Nentjes which of course was potentially overshadowed by Taylor.
