Two-time BDO world champion Glen Durrant is another step closer to the Lakeside final.

The Middlesbrough man and sealed a third successive semi-final. Each of the previous two times, Durrant has gone on to claim the Lakeside title. Reflecting on his Friday evening win, he noted an improvement on his nervy victory against Scott Baker. "I thought I was really good tonight," Durrant told the BDO in an interview. "Against Scott Baker I wasn't myself - more credit to Scott and his fans, who were terrific. "During that game (versus McKinstry), Kyle was more my pace, and I really enjoyed it." The win means Durrant has now gone 13 games unbeaten at the BDO World Championship. His last defeat was three years ago, to Scott Waites in the quarter-finals of the 2016 event. Surpassing Martin Adams, and sitting behind just Eric Bristow (19 consecutive wins) and Trina Gulliver (22 wins), the double world champion was almost lost for words. "My God. For a guy from Middlesbrough...that's good," he said. McKinstry beat Chris Landman and David Cameron in deciding sets to earn a quarter-final spot. The Northern Irishman couldn't take Durrant all the way, but the 48-year-old was effusive in his praise for his younger opponent. "Kyle was the unseeded person that nobody wanted. "If he did the circuit week in, week out, he'd be a top four seed," asserted the world champion. Durrant also shared a pearl of wisdom on a key trick to ensure Lakeside success. "Rest is so, so important. That's the secret. It's such a tough eight days, and I'm getting older now!"
