Rob Cross has continued his stunning rise up the rankings and is now in the top ten in the world after a brilliant sudden death victory over the defending champion Michael van Gerwen who will not be facing Phil Taylor in his final game in darts which will pain Mighty Mike who has been vocal about wanting to end the career of the best of all time.
The game went all the way with Cross winning 6-5 in sets against the World Champion and World Number 5. Cross hit the bull in the sudden death shootout and this gave him the advantage but when Van Gerwen missed darts at a double, Cross pinned D8 to cap off an amazing victory and a shock in many ways for 'Voltage' who started the year with £250 to his name but is now in the top ten in the world and a World Finalist on his debut.
