Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall through to the Last 16 in Wolverhampton

Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall are the last men through from tonight's half of the draw. Bunting was through no matter what happened due to his wins over Chisnall and De Zwaan but still defeated Scott Mitchell in a nail biting decider which if Mitchell won he would go through and if Bunting won, both St Helens ace's would go through to the Last 16.
It was Bunting that defeated Mitchell meaning 'Chizzy' secured his passage and for Mitchell a long wait for a Last 16 spot continues as he has never got out of the group in the years' he has played the Grand Slam.
Chisnall though was only in this position because he lost to Dutchman Jeffrey de Zwaan 5-4 earlier on which put Mitchell back in contention but it was Bunting who saved his skin in the end.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
