It was the turn next of Group G and with
Michael Smith,
Mensur Suljovic and James Wilson all still with a shot of making it through the stakes were high. Michael did himself a lot of favours in the first game, he edged past BDO World Number One Mark McGeeney 5-4 including a brilliant 87 checkout on the bull. A thrilling match that included five 180's from the Bully Boy and a 104 average to McGeeney's 100 as well as 5/6 on the doubles from Smith put him in a great position.
In the next game he was relying on Suljovic winning in the next game and he did just that which meant the Gentle topped the Group and it allowed Michael Smith through as well. Wilson looked good and was on for a potential shock but a 98 averages and checkouts at key points from the Austrian of 123 and 112 allowed him to win 5-3 and top the group in the process to continue the good form Mensur has been displaying as of late.
