Michael van Gerwen will aim for his maiden Champions League of Darts crown this weekend, the only tv event he lost in last year where he lost twice to eventual inaugural winner Phil Taylor who will be in his group once again for the BBC shown event held at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.
Mighty Mike has won two titles in the past two weekends and is is the odds-on favourite with sponsors Unibet to take home the title on Sunday night and Van Gerwen said in an interview before the event that it's going quite well at the moment and that he hopes they are ready for me this year.
"It would be a nice one to tick off the list," said Van Gerwen. "It's a new tournament and Phil won it last year, but I hope they are ready for me this year!
"Everything I want to compete in I want to win but it doesn't always work that way. It's going quite well at the moment."
