Van Gerwen on De Zwaan clash at World Matchplay: “I know it will not be an easy game”

Michael van Gerwen will start a hunt for another World Matchplay title this evening as the week of action at the Winter Gardens begins on Saturday night.
Van Gerwen though will face Jeffrey de Zwaan, his fellow Dutchman who shocked him at this year’s UK Open and he has said he doesn’t think it will be an easy game. Despite that though he is hoping that the nerves now play a factor due to it being his first World Matchplay which will play into Mighty Mike’s hands somewhat. "I know it will not be an easy game," said Van Gerwen. "There are so many good players on the circuit now and you have to make sure you play well and don't make any mistakes. "I will be huge favourite to win the game even though he beat me in the UK Open. "Maybe he will be a bit nervous with it being his first time in Blackpool and I'm confident I will get the win."

- This coming from the lowest ranked player in it who was only selected by his paranoia for attention from the crowd by having to conduct the crowd to his walk on music. I know a lot of darts fans who cannot stand Arsepinall, oddly I know people who don't like darts but frequently attend events for the atmosphere and have no idea who was playing.
