BDO world number one McGeeney lost in the final, missing two match darts in a
stunning 7-6 defeat to
Glen Durrant. But the Stockport star was satisfied with his overall performance.
"Get past the second round, that was my aim," admitted the 2018 runner-up.
"I haven't played my best darts all week, rode my luck in places, but I'm quite pleased with my performance."
McGeeney picked up a cheque for £35,000 for reaching the final. But he noted that a change of setup was in order going forwards.
"I'll be back on the practice boards with a new set of darts," McGeeney said. "The setup I had today wasn't right for me. It hasn't been right for a while now, so I'm looking to change it."
