The two-time
BDO world champion to reach the Sunday showdown. He'll meet Glen Durrant who, like Waites, is after a third world title. In the biggest prize in BDO darts on offer, a tense and dramatic clash is a near guarantee at the
Lakeside. The Yorkshireman has promised to do his part, and he knows the crowd will pitch in as well. "If you come and play at the World Championship final, it's difficult, getting on that stage," Waites explained. "Sometimes nerves take over. "It's going to be absolutely electric. The final's going to be amazing tomorrow, I can't wait for it." Neither player got going in the semi-final. Waites averaged 85 to Unterbuchner's 83, and the German's poor finishing paved the way to a straightforward success for the ninth seed. "It was not a great game of darts, to be honest. "But at the end of the day, I've managed to hit the winning double. "I'll prepare myself (for tomorrow). I'll definitely be better than I was today." Double 18 was the target struck to ensure Waites' triumph. It was a foe that Scotty 2 Hotty was pleased to vanquish before taking on Durrant. "I left it for a few sets today, just on purpose, to get that monkey off my back," he said. "So hopefully now, going into the final, I'll smash double 18 with the first dart whenever I want it." For Waites, sealing a third world title on that double would certainly be sweet. for more information about the 2019 BDO Lakeside World Championship.
