Danny Noppert followed up his victory over Christian Perez (5-4) with a 5-2 win over Simon Whitlock in his second group match at the
Grand Slam of Darts. The Dutchman said afterwards that this result gave him more satisfaction than his first game.
''This went faster than in my first match and when I start throwing faster, I am more comfortable in the match. From the start I did feel good and this is a good result'', Noppert commented afterwards.
Despite four points, 'The Freeze' is not yet sure of a spot in the last sixteen. Possibly a narrow defeat in his final duel against Mensur Suljovic will be enough, but Noppert does not want to bother with the maths by any means.
''I just have to win. I don't want to worry about the numbers. The fact that the group winner gets an extra money bonus also helps in terms of motivation. We are all close together at the top (of the world rankings). Then that also helps to make small steps.''
