Andrew Gilding takes revenge on Wessel Nijman with nine-darter and average of 114

Andrew Gilding seemed determined Tuesday to take revenge for his defeat against Wessel Nijman at the World Series Finals last weekend. Tuesday afternoon they faced each other again in the second round of Players Championship 20.
Whereas Nijman won 6-1 last Saturday, this time it was 'Goldfinger' who won 6-1. The Englishman threw a nine darter and recorded an average of 114.
After the former UK Open champion won the first leg with a 14-darter, he notched a nine-darter in the second leg. Gilding then brought the score to 3-0 with a 15-darter.
It was not until the fourth leg that Nijman managed to get on the scoreboard, although he needed a 12-darter to do so. Gilding then won three more legs in a row with a 15-darter, 13-darter and 12-darter.
It is the third time Gilding has managed to throw a nine-darter on the PDC circuit. He previously threw one at a Euro Tour qualifying tournament in 2015, and a Players Championship tournament in 2018.

- It seems odd that at the World Championship they have dancing ladies in hot pants and pom poms and yet the walk on ladies who were much more elegantly attired get removed from the scene. I met Daniella at Silverstone when she was a grid girl in the F1 race and was very pleasant indeed.
