Nathan Aspinall set a personal record at the New Zealand Darts Masters on Saturday. 'The Asp' threw his highest television average ever in his semi-final against Michael Smith.
His old record dated back to 2020. Then, in a match in Premier League Darts, the Englishman managed to record a moyenne of 107.64 per turn against Gary Anderson. At the time, that average was only enough for a draw (6-6).
This time Aspinall did manage to win with a high average. The brand-new World Matchplay champion averaged a whopping 110.22 points per turn against Smith.
Although Aspinall managed to reach the final with a 7-3 victory over Smith, he did miss out on the overall victory in New Zealand. In the final, Rob Cross proved too strong 8-7.
