Brody Klinge is set to make his debut on the
World Series of Darts after he secured a spot at the 2024 Australian Darts Masters through the DPA ProTour last weekend,
Events 7 through 9 took place June 15 and 16 at the Commercial Club in Albury. Klinge managed to win one of these tournaments on Sunday. It was his first-ever DPA ProTour title for him. Klinge finished second on the Order of Merit behind Brenton Lloyd, but because Lloyd was already certain of his place at the World Series tournament in Wollongong, Klinge was next in line for a qualifying spot for the tournament at home.
The first event of the tournament weekend was won by Stuart Coburn, who took his first title since 2022. Coburn defeated Bill Aitken, Lloyd, Hayden Scott and Rob Modra before beating Tim Pusey 6-4 in the final.
Brenton Lloyd was successful at the eighth tournament of the DPA ProTour with a 6-3 victory over Brandon Weening in the final. Lloyd also dealt with Dave Hanel, Scott, Harley Kemp and Klinge on his way to victory, which now puts him atop the DPA ProTour Order of Merit. Klinge closed out the weekend winning the ninth event after victories over Torin Helmore, Joe Comito and former PDC Tour Card holder Gordon Mathers to reach the semifinals. In his final two matches, Klinge won over Joshua Townsend and Brandon Weening.
Klinge is the fifth regional representative to grab a starting spot in the field of competitors for the Australian Darts Masters. This tournament will take place August 9 and 10 in Wollongong.
Simon Whitlock tops the list of regional representatives, which also includes New Zealand's number one Haupai Puha, Lloyd and Modra. The remaining three places will be confirmed next month. The DPA ProTour resumes with the tournaments 10-12 on July 13 and 14. Then Australian darters will continue their battle for qualification to the World Series of Darts and the World Darts Championship.
