Brooks sets sights on Grand Slam run: "If I play my own game, I can have a really good run in that competition"

Bradley Brooks became PDC World Youth Champion last year and due to the Coronavirus lockdown, he won it behind closed doors and like many World Champions has had to wait to parade it.

Brooks has said it still feels strange as a result when it is nearly a year ago and he is still getting congratulations from people.

"It's still strange as it feels a long time since I won it because of the amount of competitions I've played in so when people coming up saying well done on winning the World Youth, it seems strange because it was last year," said Brooks to the Weekly Dartscast.

World Championship qualification

This led to him claiming qualification for the PDC World Championship and despite losing to Dirk van Duijvenbode, it was a 'dream come true' for the Blackburn ace.

"It was amazing, it was a dream come true. Any darts fan always dreams about playing there, I used to remember as a kid practicing, I used to have it on the telly and pretend to play the pro's."

European Tour and Grand Slam

On the horizon for Brooks includes a second appearance on the European Tour in September at the Hungarian Darts Trophy and it's one he relishes.

"I've only ever played in one Euro Tour, I loved it, it was amazing so going back and playing in the first one hopefully there will be crowds there."

The same can be said for the Grand Slam of Darts where he will play due to his World Youth win.

"I feel like if I play my own game, I can have a really good run in that competition. A lot of comps around Lancashire that we play are Grand Slam based so I feel like I will be ok in that."
