Brown admits pressure is off after NHS work during Coronavirus pandemic: "The last eight months my darts are on the side"

Keegan Brown is through to a tie with Dave Chisnall in the second round of the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship after defeating Ryan Meikle 3-0, a scoreline which was harsh on 'The Barber'.

But Brown spoke afterwards and while he was pleased to be through, due to his work with the NHS, he admitted that the pressure is off darts now and that he can play easier having had to deal with positive COVID specimens in his day job.

"It means the world, this year has been horrific for everyone. Being the lab assistant back on the Isle of Wight, maybe I've not practised as much. Maybe I've not played as much. But it's worth it," said Brown post match.

"Between March-June, I picked up the darts eight times. Somehow qualified for the Matchplay, played alright at the Matchplay, a bit unlucky. Got to the Autumn Series, Winter Series and thought it's World Championship, just play well. I've not practised as much, just really glad to get through."

"The last eight months my darts are on the side and this is number one (NHS)."

"At the beginning of the year, someone said you want to work nights, you want to deal with COVID specimens, this is going to be a pandemic. I would have laughed but when it got to 3:30 in the morning and I had a positive COVID specimen in my hand, darts becomes easier."
