Bunting looks forward after first round victory over Clayton: 'I can build on this'

Stephen Bunting came through convincingly on the second night of action at the World Grand Prix defeating Jonny Clayton in straight sets.
Bunting admitted that he wasn't at his best but that he is glad to be through and he hopes now that he can build on this performance.
He added that from his perspective he loves the format and that he has a good chance if he can hit his starting doubles and score properly.
"I wasn't at my best but it was enough and I'm glad to be through," said Bunting. "I felt great in practice and coming into the match, and I can build on this.
"Jonny struggled on his doubles and I took the chances that he gave me, but I'll be better in the next round.
"I've had some success here by reaching the semi-finals before and I love the format. This is one event where I've got a good chance if I can hit my starting doubles and score like I can."

- This coming from the lowest ranked player in it who was only selected by his paranoia for attention from the crowd by having to conduct the crowd to his walk on music. I know a lot of darts fans who cannot stand Arsepinall, oddly I know people who don't like darts but frequently attend events for the atmosphere and have no idea who was playing. - Is this the start of an attempt to say that he (Littler) is the best ever as he has won most money. Perhaps adjust all prize money earned by allowing for inflation. If Littler gets close too (does not even have to overtake) both MVG’s and Taylor’s Major titles total then he is in the conversation. Indicates to me that the prize money is skewed to much towards the top players, meritocracy must rule but a fair distribution of the money is needed otherwise its only ever about a select few.Mysstree09-01-2025
